In-4 (mm. 322x219), p. pergamena coeva (picc. macchie al piatto poster.), dorso a cordoni (ben restaur.) con titolo ms., 18 cc.nn., 340 pp.num., con pregevole frontespizio figurato entro cornice architettonica e ornato da testatine, grandi capilettera figur. a vignetta e finalini, inc. su legno; l'opera è molto ben illustrata da 1 ritratto dell'A. e da 46 superbe tavole anatomiche, inc. in rame, comprese nella numerazione delle pagine. Il colophon porta la data 1588'. "Prima edizione in latino". Cfr. Castiglioni, p. 430: "Giovanni Valverde, soprannominato "Huescanus o ab Huesca" dal nome della sua patria Huesca - nel regno di Leòn in Spagna - occupa un posto eminente fra gli anatomisti spagnoli del Cinquecento. Nel 1556 pubblicò una prima ediz. spagnola, tradotta in italiano nel 1560 e in latino nel 1589, che ebbe una grandissima diffusione e fu tra i libri più letti e più studiati del Rinascimento". Besides the title-page of the Italian edition, which is slightly elaborated in the Latin edition, there are given the forty-two original plates by Valverde and four myologic plates by an unknown artist and engraver. At the end of the prefaces is inserted on a whole page a bust of Valverde with the monogram of Niccolò Beatrici.
